Chef Deseree (Dez) Lo, born in Hong Kong and raised in Taiwan, started working in the finance sector in New York City in the early 2000’s after graduating from New York University before deciding to pursue her lifelong passion for cooking. She enrolled at the French Culinary Institute and embarked on an almost two decade long career since then.  

Before moving to Vancouver, Canada in 2016, Chef Dez honed her skills and climbed the culinary ladder at some of New York’s top fine dining restaurants, including La Grenouille, Oceana, and Locanda Verde. Upon landing in Vancouver, she joined the team at CinCin Ristorante as the Executive Sous Chef before becoming the Opening Chef at Old Bird on Main Street in 2019. When the pandemic hit and the restaurant industry almost grinded to a halt, she pivoted to an unexpected role as the Sales Director  and Brand Ambassador at Fresh Ideas Start Here, a Vancouver-based wholesale and retail seafood distributor. 

In 2022, Chef Dez took on the challenge of competing in season 10 of Top Chef Canada and finished as the runner-up. After that incredible experience, she then went on to lead the team at Blank Canvas Catering in Langley, and teach others her craft as Chef-in-Residence for the Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts on Granville Island.

Currently, she is now the Corporate Chef at Luxe Appliance Studio, as well as the proud owner of Dez Lo Catering Company and Just Roll With It OG Cheese Biscuits. If you have an event that you would like to discuss with Chef Dez, please get in touch below!
